Flotation therapy is still a relatively new recovery therapy in Finland, and there are many things you can do with it. Here you will find the answers to all the questions we are most often asked about our services and booking policies.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
IS THE TANK TIGHT?
Float Studio’s flotation tanks are the most spacious on the market. You will probably be surprised at how spacious the tank is inside. The volume of the tank is equivalent to a small passenger car, which means you can, for example, sit comfortably in it if you want.
IF I FALL ASLEEP, CAN I DROWN?
The water in the flotation tank is very salty which gives it strong buoyancy. Drowning in the tank is practically impossible because the water supports floatation. If you want, you can take a neck support with you into the tank if it helps you relax. However, you can achieve the best state of deep relaxation without a support because when the tank’s water line rises above the ears it effectively shuts out the sounds of the outside world.
WHAT IF I'M AFRAID OF WATER?
Water is not a natural element for humans and therefore it is quite natural that it can feel a little frightening at first. However, it is important to remember the water in the flotation tank strongly supports you due to its high salt content, and therefore there is no danger of drowning. If the idea of being in water seems foreign to you, give yourself time to get used to it. Many people who have been worried about floating for the first time say that they started to enjoy it after a few tries.
WILL THE TANK LID DEFINITELY OPEN?
The tank lid is light and does not lock, and so will open with absolute certainty. You can also leave the cover completely or partially open if that makes you feel more comfortable. However, you can only completely close out sensory stimuli by closing the lid properly so that light and sound remain outside your relaxation experience.
WHY DIDN'T I RELAX?
These days it is typical for us to treat everything we do as a performance. We even measure our sleep despite the fact this should be the time of day when we do nothing at all. The same can be said for flotation therapy. If you feel your mind does not calm down during the first attempt at floating, you need to persist and try again. Before your relaxation time begins, remind yourself that right now you don’t need to do anything other than just be.
HOW DO I KNOW IF FLOATING IS RIGHT FOR ME?
Flotation therapy is suitable for almost everyone. However there are some exceptions when floating is not recommended:
- You have your period
- You are in your last days of pregnancy
- You have epilepsy
- You suffer from kidney dysfunction
- You have balance problems
- You suffer from heart problems
WHAT KIND OF MASSAGE DO YOU OFFER?
Float Studio’s masseurs are experienced specialists who have obtained a professional degree in massage. Depending on your needs we will treat you with either sports or classic massage methods.
Sports massage differs from classical massage in that a sports massage therapist has knowledge of different sports and training requirements which forms the basis for the massage to best serve the athlete at any given time. However, you don’t have to be an athlete to choose a sports massage for yourself.
In every treatment, both classical and sports massage, various techniques are used with the aim of helping the customer in the best possible way. The massage is always carried out according to an individual treatment plan and varies according to client needs.

WHY SHOULD I COME FOR A MASSAGE?
You might come for a massage for several different reasons. You might be an active person, an athlete, an office worker, or anything in between.
The body of an active person or athlete may be stressed as a result of training. The aim of massage is to promote recovery, avoid possible injuries, and relieve muscle tension. The body of an office employee, student, or older person on the other hand can be affected by a lack of movement or activity. This often results in body pain and tense muscles. Massage aims to relieve pain from tense muscles and promote movement. A massage always relaxes the body and mind. Stress decreases and you get a moment to yourself own time in the middle of everyday life.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE?
Caring for your body through massage affects well-being in many different ways. In addition to being generally helpful for muscle stiffness, tension, and muscle pain, it can also bring relief to those suffering from, for example, headaches, and various symptoms of stress.
The overall state of relaxation that follows a massage is also important. When the body and mind are “reseted” with the help of massage, it can improve sleep quality and for example, bring help to those suffering from insomnia. Quality sleep also plays a key role in the overall recovery and recharging of the body, which is of paramount importance in terms of well-being.
DO YOU GIVE FASCIAL TREATMENTS?
Yes we do. During a fascial the fascia membrane lines that cross the body are treated by stretching and pressing them. The treatment improves the body’s mobility and can reduce tension, aches, and pains.
DO YOU OFFER MASSETER MUSCLE MASSAGE?
Yes we do. You should come for a masseter muscle massage especially if the back of your jaw feels sore in the morning, or if it clicks when you move it. If face muscles are stuck, it can also cause unpleasant sensations in areas other than the face as well. Pain can be felt, for example, in the temples, or neck and shoulder area. Other symptoms can include tinnitus, a feeling of having a lump in the throat, dizziness, or other balance problems.
During masseter massage, the facial area and inner surfaces of the cheeks are treated. During the treatment special attention is paid to hygiene, and the masseuse wears disposable gloves.
The treatment revitalises the function of the face and head muscles and improves their metabolism. When the metabolism revs up, the muscles relax and pain starts to ease.
WHAT IS NEUROSONIC RELAXATION?
Neurosonic relaxation is a form of relaxation based on low-frequency vibration that balances the body. The idea is to affect the autonomic nervous system and thereby speed up the body’s recovery and achieve a state of deep relaxation.
HOW DOES NEUROSONIC TREATMENT WORK?
During the treatment, you lie comfortably in the Neurosonic chair and just focus on receiving the good effects of the vibration.
Is Neurosonic treatment right for me?
Neurosonic relaxation is suitable for almost everyone. However, there are some exceptions when it is not recommended:
- You have an acute blood clot
- You have active cancer
- You have a cold or a fever
- You are pregnant
- You have an acute disc distension
- You have a serious eye disease
- You have recently had brain surgery or are otherwise prone to bleeding
- You had a vaccination on the same day

Of course! Our studio has three flotation tanks, so you can also bring your friends along. You can alternate between massage and Neurosonic relaxation.
Do I need anything with me?
You don’t need to take anything special with you when you come to our studio. In addition to the flotation experience, we offer you:
- Slippers
- A towel
- Frantsila hair and skin washing products
- Frantsila skin care products
- After floating, a small healthy snack and a drink of your choice. Our list includes, for example, a wonderful velvet bean cocoa drink as well as drinks to improve concentration and resistance.
